Sheets
on: July 06, 2005, 02:41:46 PM
Hey Nils.

I was wondering.. I'm sure very many people on this piano forum have sheets on their computer. Can we send in our sheets and build up our sheet music section?
I'm sure we have gotten much more that way. ::)

oh yeah, that would be very cool - i would only recommend either moderation of these or "rules of posting" (for instance, everything must be vector in pdf)...

i think this is a very cool idea, really!

unfortunately, this would probably be illegal as most people don't have stuff that is out of copyright yet.
I want an Integra.  1994-2001.   GSR.  If you see one, let me know.

The idea is not bad at all in itself but there are several reasons making this unlikely to happen at Piano Street.

The sheet music we provide is carefully evaluated to be of good, trustable editions and above all, legal. The quality of the files is a main concern and we only provide 600 dpi scanned pdf:s or scores printed in Sibelius. There are many sites offering free sheet music but it is rare to find large collections of such exceptional quality as we have. Just print some scores from sheetmusicarchive.net or everynote.com and compare with ours and you will see what I mean. Also our files are created by professional pianists/pianoteachers, something that actually makes a significant difference regarding details that are often overlooked in files form other sites.

To keep the control over quality and legal issues we need to produce the files from start.
The current collection (for Gold members) includes over 7000 pages but we expect to have at least 12000 pages at the end of this year so quantity is not really a problem.

But thanks anyway for the suggestion! I will keep it in mind for the future...

Greetings

The idea is not bad at all in itself but there are several reasons making this unlikely to happen at Piano Street.

I can attest to the above because when I became a Gold Member, I already had an extensive collection of sheet music from many other sites (and have considerably more than is posted in this Forum to date). However, in almost all cases, the sheet music that is available here is by far superior in quality to the ones that I already have. Consequently, I am replacing the existing files constantly.

I have found sheet music that I don't have, which is nice. My only complaint would be the number of typos and incorrect file links that I've found, but Nilsjohan is on top of that and has been appreciative of this info. :)

Actually, I'm surprised that these numbers aren't higher given the number of files to transfer and set up! I know how hard it is to make sure everything is correct.

Keep up the good work! This is a great site!!!! :D

Cheers ;D
