Pieces with words
on: July 07, 2005, 08:10:54 AM
Do you ever hear a melody from a piece and automatically relate lyrics to it? For example, when i hear the second subject from the 1st movement (on cellos) of Grieg's Concerto i always think of the words "so lonely" for some reason. Have a listen. You'll know what i mean

Of course I'll be darned if I can remember the prelude number or the words... But I used to listen to the Bach WTC Preludes and there was one that I always wanted to set a religious text to (I think it was "Gloria in excelsis Deo"... either that or "Kyrie Eleison"... one or the other). It just fit so naturally.
