CD with recordings of me playing a mozart/beethoven/haydn sonata, chopin/liszt etude and the first or last movement of a piano concerto to be submitted with registration:

Beethoven Sonata No. 30, Op. 109
Liszt Transcendental Etudes No. 12 "Chasse-Neige"
Barber Concerto for Piano and Orchestra Op. 38 1st Movement


Preliminary Round consisting of a single movement of a mozart/beethoven/haydn sonata, chopin/liszt etude and music from the recital round.  DURATION: 20-25

Beethoven Sonata No. 21, Op. 53 "Waldstein" 3rd Movement             (8:40)
Liszt Transcendental Etudes No. 12 "Chasse-Neige"                         (4:40)
Xenakis "Herma"- Musique Symbolique                                           (7:45)


Recital Round.  DURATION: 65-75

Alkan Symphonie pour Solo Piano Op. 39                                        (27:00)
Debussy Images Suite II                                                             (13:00)
Xenakis "Herma"- Musique Symbolique                                           (7:45)
Scarlatti Sonatas K. 298, 417 and 517                                          (8:00)
Messiaen Regards de l'Esprit de Joye                                            (8:15)
Wagner-Liszt Isolda's Liebestod                                                   (8:15)


Schubert Sonata Round consisting of a Schubert Sonata:

Schubert Sonata D. 958 in C Minor


Final Round consisting of a piano quintet chosen from a short list and a piano concerto:

Dvorak Piano Quintet in A Major, Op. 81
Barber Concerto for Piano and Orchestra Op. 38

Sounds sexy, but Herma may be a bit too... out there for a competition.
I want an Integra.  1994-2001.   GSR.  If you see one, let me know.

Thanx for the input so far ^^  Anyone got negative feedback?  Cmon I wanna hear if there's anything wrong.  And now me and Steven get to decide where we're gonna go for a vacation instead of the tropics..... anyone got any suggestions for that too?  XD

Actually I'm kind of worried about running the Dvorak Quintet as opposed to the Brahms or Schumann but I don't know either, nor am I particularly good at playing brahms or schumann, particularly brahms.  I wish they allowed the shosty or bartok ><

Why is it always the same three piano quintets at these competitions?  Surely there are others of equal merit, perhaps from different time periods?

does anyone here know of a REALLY good dvorak quintet recording?  I find Rubinstein's stale.

first of all, I definitely agree with Yang on that I like your taste, it isn't too boring and overplayed.


second,

how do you prepare for these competitions?  Do you resurrect repitoire you've already learned?  How much of it would be new and how much already finished?

Anyways, all of that is already in my repertoire, though some of it is new stuff or stuff I'm still perfecting.
