Basically, these are my new rules:
1. do whatever makes you happy

Great mantra! Seriosuly. Only one amendment "... as long as it does not negatively affect others".

Quote
2. Ignore what other people do, even if it is against your ideals, but perhaps try to persuade them to see things more your way

Ignoring is not so good, because you deny yourself the chance to broaden your horizon. I would say, don't ignore, but perhaps choose not to react.

Also, instead of "persuade", try "convince". It's much more, ehem, convincing, and a powerful aphrodisiac to boot ;D

Quote
1a. post whatever I want

Same amendment as above.

But honestly, I would think there are a lot of other forums where you would have a much easier time posting whatever you want without causing that much disruption and friction. So, in reality, you don't really want to have an easier time, you want to be the odd one out, so that the attention is directed towards you. Well, you got mine for now ;)

Rules 2 and 1a are inconsistent with rule 1. So your axiomatic system is already doomed to failure. :'(

Try again. ;)

Best wishes,

sounds too radical for me. LOL

Writing posts that have no usefulness is just as radical. ;)

Rule one do whatever makes one happy, does not contradict either of them.  I'll be happy posting whatever I want, an I'll be happy ignoring / convincing ;) other people.

I know this may sound at first like an outlandish concept, but one way to have lots of posts and not get banned, is to make sure they (or at least some of them) have some usefulness. ::)

But then, what do I know? 8)

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

So.... you should focus on the content of the post and not the technique of posting then?  By doing that the technique of posting will come develop naturally right?

If Rule 1 is do whatever makes you happen and Rule 2 is ignore others, then you're going to end up lonely by yourself, and won't be happy then right?  Let that one sink in for a minute.  ;)

No, I win't end up lonely because this forum isn't my life.  You know who ends up lonely?  People who practice piano for 7+ hours a day.  That is lonely.

yes..lets all evaluate the quality of our posts..and catalogue them by superiority and how much they contribute...we must ALL exert only the FINEST richest posts with nourishing information..or well thought out grammatical profiles...there must ALWAYS be goodness at the end of a post...

we should all ALSO thoroughly wash our toothbrushes on a  bi-weekly basis to ensure the propper hygenic practice of ridding large collections of bacteria..on a side, but parallel note, we should ONLY..and i cant stress this enough people..ONLY squeeze from the bottom of the toothpaste tube..this will ensure maximum satisfaction in regards to product life...

also..*clears throat*...*adjusts glasses in a conservative manner*....it is important that we..as human beings...sleep ONLY facing up..sleeping on the side will allow deamons from the depths of hell to infiltrate our bodies through the crevace in our buttocks...THIS..will ensure maximum satisfaction of sleep by lessening the chance of a demonic posession..reducing monthly exorcism fees and costs thus leaving you with more pocket money for more important things like...martha stuart DVD collection sets...or drapes...

Nice philosophy. ::)

How long do you think it will take before it starts spilling into all areas of your life?  :o

look bernhard..you can say what you want..and you can sarcastically roll your eyes or give a sarcastic grin or wink after your beautifully orchestrated witty comments...

but i just dont take the internet..or social life seriously..and if you have a problem..with the way i..or anyone else on this forum live my life or their lives..then its probably an insecurity you have...

you seem like a very elloquent man with virtues and ethics that i respect to a significant extent..okay so i dont know you personally..but i get the impression you like to induce a good amount of effort into anything you do...and your entitled to your own lifestyle..

but dont go around having set expectations for others...even in such a leasurely manner..or to the slightest degree...

Does that philosophy have anything to do with this statement made about pianoforum on another forum? i.e. here:  www.johncareycompositions.com/forum

I knew it would only be a matter of time before references to my forum were made. But, mikeyg is now incapable of doing anything when he reaches his 1000th post, because apparently, he's banned now. I can tell he's quite frustrated about the management of this forum (though I usually agree with the majority of nilsjohan's decisions), but we must ask ourselves, how many of us really know the whole story? Perhaps it goes deeper than what we think we understand.

Anyway, all I know is what he's told me, both on my forum, and on the PS chatrooms. And he is not a bad person. Somehow I get the feeling that he wasn't serious about what he said about what he's going to do when he reaches his 1000th post... but I don't know, and frankly I don't care. So perhaps we could put this topic to rest?

Especially when you and mikeyg have the forum address posted in your signatures. ;)

btw, I have absolutely nothing against mikeyg at all.  On the contrary, I have found my interactions with him on this forum to be both humorous and entertaining.  I was simply curious if his new-found philosophy was related to his previous comments.  I assume that only mikeyg can truly answer that question.

I think that the only solution to this problem is to change the piano street and john carey forum names to the jets and the sharks, and fight it out until MikeyG dies from a misunderstanding, thus uniting the two forums.

In conclusion, I think that this is all a thin veil for the underlining racial tension between piano street (the black forum) and john carey (conspicuously white).

I thought the fight had already taken place...

It reminded me of the scene in "Enter the Dragon" where some guy challenges Bruce Lee to a fight in a boat, and he tells him that it is best if they fight in a nearby island. The challenger eagerly jumps in a boat, at which point Bruce Lee leaves him there. ;D

Best wishes,
Bernhard.
