In New Zealand it would have to be John Chen.
He is currently 19 and has won all the possible national competitions here and also went on to win the Sydney International Piano Competition last year.
What about some other countries? Can you single out one pianist of this generation from your country that would be likely to have a great career?
This thread is partly made to stop all the Lang Lang backstabbing that seems to be going on forever. Lets focus on some other promising and just as talented pianists for a change eh?

In Egypt, it has to be either Mohamed Shams or Wael Farouk. Both are great. M.Shams is 20 years old and Wael is 23. Mohamed Shams has just won the Cleveland competition a couple of years ago and i've never heard a better Chopin interpretation than his          ( except for Ashkenazy of course  ;D ).

Wael Farouk is superior technically. Just you can call this guy a true virtuoso. He performs Liszt and Rach 3 with sheer simplicity and charm although he is that sort of a short, small-handed guy.

I don't mean to be pedantic, kghayesh, but Mohamed Shams competed in the 2003 Cleveland competition but did not advance. I saw his performance. He's certainly talented but I think he was too nervous to play as well as he'd hoped.
