I am just curious how people generally feel about their childhoods and up bringings and I am curious if I am right ... he he.

there are quite a few basic tasks in life that I struggle with, because I never had experience doing it before, so I guess I did, but too much, so I chose not sure

My dad died when I was seven and I grew up way too poor, but my mom still homeschooled me so I graduated four years early, got my ARCT and started teaching piano when I was 13 or 14. My mom's quite the lady, and dad's life still influences me  :)

no complaints here ;D

I love the way my parents brought me up - Bought me a grand piano, drove me to school rather than forcing me to take the bus, sitting with me when I was in the hospital, and best of all - Not brainwashing me or indoctrinating me with religion or other assorted ideologies.  I love how I can think on my own.  a joke - some of my friends have parents so religious, they even went all out and bought the oscillating Jesus fan!  :D

I had an idyllic childhood and I continue to draw on it in my adult life, even now. We had a minimum of material things but I had the immense privilege of being loved and wanted unconditionally. If that is there, nothing else matters, even if the parents and the home are not all they should be in other ways, and if it is missing nothing can ever take its place.

i think my parents made too many decisions for me and now I am a useless tool.  But who isn't a useless tool these days?

That about sums it up for me, too.  I know they "did the best they could," but sometimes doing the best you can is just no where good enough.  Without getting into boring and grisly details, suffice it to say I grew up in spite of my parents and what they did to me.

I was brought up in a religious family, an there is nothing I don't have the freedom to think about  :).

Yeah i had an awesome childhood.  My dad's job moved me around so i got to move from being born in Zimbabwe, to London, back to Zimbabwe, to Belgium and finally back to London.  It's not as many countries as a lot of kids i know but i consider myself hugely lucky for having moved around in my upbringing.  Also even though my parents are pretty rich (by most standards though not at all by the standards of the schools i went to) i wasn't really too spoiled, which i appreciate now.
