I don't know if they should be allowed. I guess they should, but I do say this, they are annoying.

Of course they should be allowed.  Why shouldn't they?  They arent forcing anyone to join.  I could get up on my soapbox right now, but I won't--unless you need to interview someone for this paper.  But you could PM me then.

now the real question is do the recruiters focus their recruitment on the lower class?

are you sure?

how do you they recruit?

they talk about free college, getting paid. Most of the talk is about money. Does this appeal to the wealthy? heck no. They already have college taken for and will make more money out in the world than they would in the military.

do they intend to recruit mostly to the lower class? I don't think so, it just happens.

As far I know.....

The military does tend to recruit more lower class people simply because they know that the money involved does appeal to them.

This would also help explain why, in my particular city, I always see recruiters scouting the Walmart parking lots in the "bad" part of town (the north side), and never the grocery store parking lots in the nicer, south side of town.

O.K.,

To agree...allow recruiting on campus...any campus....but it MAY have results that are doubtful in American practice as the Constitution demands...(a question only the courts can answer...), and surely increases the appearance of a more militant America to the rest of the world...

IS THAT a Good thing, or a BAD thing?

I can't see a better Military is needed...

Seems it is vast enough for our protection, and then some..even if not for waging war around the world...

Remember we are "downsizing" all mil. areas in the past three decades...

true, but we need to continue to recruit to keep the military where we need it. Recruiters have a quota to meet. They don't go over it. They struggle to achieve it really.

I agree with the quota issue,

But it has to be then remembered, if we allow the practice of school recruiting, we have to be prepared for more possible military action...

Let me remind of a quote  from the days of the first "atom" bombs...Oppenheimer said...roughly.."the mission was implicit in the building of the bombs...I don't think it could have been stopped..."

In other words, in the area of military issues, often if it is there, it WILL be used....An army of agression then, might well be just that, even if NOT needed...The Pentagon is in fact, as noted by many..self serving always...The military NEEDS a war to justify the very existance of the military.... :o :)(?)

I don't see any problem on military recruiters working at schools. But it seems a little odd that the people at school has to start thinking about a military future at such a young age...
