Myron Floren, accordianist
on: July 24, 2005, 02:35:09 AM
For those of you who ever watched The Lawrence Welk Show, you probably know well Myron Floren, if not by name,  as the fabulous accordianist who was featured many, many times over his 32-year career with the band.  He died of his cancer today, at the age of 85.

Although he was not a musician desirous of the limelight nor accustomed to it, it is all the same a great loss to the musical community.   RIP :'(

****I was also wondering, how much alike to the piano is an accordian?  If one is fairly good at piano, would it be reasonably easy to pick up this instrument?*****

I bought one a couple of years ago to play around with and have had some great fun with it.

Its an excellent instrument to sing along to as well as for solos.

Knowledge of the Piano will assist with the right hand but it was with the left hand that i struggled. Knowledge of braille perhaps.

However, after a few months i got used to it.

I am glad you brought this to our attention.

I suppose the snootie noses with their bloated pretentions would rather die than ever express any respect for Myron Floren, but he was a master of his instrument and a great showman.

We will all wish him the very best, wherever he is now.
