Any experience with the Steinway A-III early 20's
on: July 24, 2005, 04:18:06 AM
I have limited experience with this model, and was wondering if anyone has any comments either good or bad. The only one that I have played had a cracked soundboard, was tuned about a half step flat, and had a sticky key...but still sounded great. One rebuilder I spoke to said he felt that it is one of the best scales that steinway has ever come up with...he liked them much better than the B.

Your tech is correct. The Steinway A III is considered by many piano experts one of the best designed Steinway grands. Also the Steinway grands of the 20s and 30s are highly regarded. If you can find one that has been properly rebuilt you will have a fine instrument.

thanks for the info. I just got one and it should be arriving this weekend. Because of past recommendations I have always kept a lookout for one at a good price, but have seen few for sale. This one will likely find its way to my son's home.
