Franck sonata
on: July 16, 2003, 06:55:36 PM
I'm interested sometime in the future in playing Franck sonata in A for violin and piano. Anyone has played it ? How difficult you consider it ? Where can I get a free score of it ? Thanks.

hello BB,

Well, i've heard that this Sonata is famous for giving pianists RSI. But i don't really believe that because i've looked at the score and it didn't seem to hard.
Yes, besides this, it is a beautiful Sonata. I was considering learning this a few months ago but decided it would be more benificial to learn more chamber music.

And i would use this chance to ask a question:
Does instrumental Sonatas, like Cello Sonata, Violin Sonata, etc, count also as chamber music?
Some people say it does, because chamber music can be anything with two people or more.
Then why are they called VIOLIN sonatas? They even feature in Instrumental competitions such as Violin competitions. And if it was chamber music then both players should be equal.
And some people might regard these works as Sonatas FOR violin and piano or whatever the instrument may be.
