What sort of piano are you playing? It sounds digital! Very nice performance. I love this piece.

Yamaha Disklavier. I had it in "quiet mode" because I live in a condo building with neighbors, and also because the acoustic mode is out of tune.

Absolutely gorgeous! Perfect mood. I can't think in anything to criticize. It called my attention that there was no pretentiousness at all regarding the performer appearance (after all you are leaving a video for posterity, to be enjoyed by thousands of persons around the world). Instead only the music did matter. Very good!

Really nice job. You've heard the legendary Friedman recording?

Yes of course. It's a great performance. Unfortunately though, with this particular piece, there are far more bad recordings than good ones.

OrlandoPiano,

Your piano playing is very motivating for me.  I hope to play like that someday.  Are you thinking about making more Videos?

Thanks for the compliment. The only video I have on the computer is Rachmaninoff Suite op.5 and Two Rachmaninoff preludes in op.23.  I'll make a Chopin impromptu video soon.

Very very beautiful. Very moving. I like the way you wear your heart on your sleeve in your playing, and I can tell every ounce of emotion was poured into the music, and the way you savoured the notes. Much better, for me at least, than some other commercial recordings I've heard which are far more restrained.  After all, music is above all, about the communication of emotions, isn't it? From a technical standpoint, I like the rich singing tone you draw out of the instrument, and the way your melodic line stands out distinctly over a quiet accompaniment, and your well-proportioned dynamic range.   Friedman still ranks as my favourite, but believe me, you're close!  Now you have inspired me to learn it!

nice job. but sometimes i don't like the harsh pokey sounds. if i never saw the video, i could've thought it was the piano's fault, but it's rather caused by too much dropping of the hands from a height.

like i said, it's really nice though. it's just my $0.02.

My piano was in digital mode (Disklavier) so I had to hit the keys pretty hard to get a forte sound.  That's why sometimes the keys being hit are almost as loud as the notes themselves.

Friedman's is also my favorite, but there is also an excellent video performance by Kapell here:

Orlandopiano...Virtuoso performance indeed!! ;D Uncommon from the rest!!  In fact, the best I have heard in this form.  I can't image what it would sound like on a concert grand piano. ::)  Keep it up!!

Hey, Violinist can you play like that with your NEW STEINWAY B?   ;) Give us a show.. asap!!

Wow.  Really fluid.  I really like way your trills are nice and clear yet it doesn't distract from the melody in any way.  Same with the harmony.  Couldn't have told between your recording and one made by a 'professional'.
Mad about Chopin.
