why?  just a humble question.
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

Well, since everybody else is being rediculously goofy, I'll put in an honest good word--I appreciate pianonut's kindness, and how polite she is. I especially appreciate her views--I agree with most of them and they've helped me a lot.

Profound, eh?  ;)  *bows*

he he, I was just going to re-post, pianobabe, with some real da kine on pianonut.  We are celebrating you, pianonut  :).  Here are some things I have appreciated about you :

You are very kind and thoughtful.  You have helped me to feel included in things around here.

You are smart, and seem to enjoy sharing your knowledge with others.

I admire your apparent love of music and that you stand by your "dreams" with it.

AND You're pretty  :) he he (nobody really minds hearing that)

You're confident.

wow!  so much fan mail for one night!  thanks!  you all inspire me, too.  i thought about skeptotamus's name the first time i saw his posts.  i like people who prove what they think by being a bit skeptical.  unfortunately, i fall apart around people like that.  trying to prove a point with many facts isn't my forte.  usually take one or two and wield them around.

mayla, you are a very sharp teacher and kind and thoughtful, too.  your students must like you, too.  same for pianobabe_56.  wish i could take up that offer of janice's for a party at ludwig's castle.  am sure there are things we could share about teaching, playing, and just life in general.

bob, you are a star!

thalbergmad, because you bicycle, i have to be your number one fan.  but, bouter-boogie probably cooks better than i do.  i used to entertain, but on account of three children have toned it down to spaghetti, pizza, and chicken dishes.  my best dish is lasagne with lots of basil and oregano. (kinda basic cooking)  i am, however, the worlds best bread baker.

ps am looking for a southern peach pie recipie

furiousfingers, i don't understand.  is this on a scale of 1-10?  ok.  i'm probably too old.  but, my mind won't accept my age and therefore i insist on being at least an 8.

siberian husky, thanks for the 'doesn't smell like cabbage.'  and stevie for the 'wild tangents,' but it helps me to reign in my posts.  i like 'fun and friendly.'  it's good to get realistic feedback.

ps speaking of smells and that makes me think of a cologne tester that came in a magazine.  it's called d'lu and is for men.  i scratched the test spot and fell on the floor overcome by the thought of a man wearing this.  unfortunately, my husband cannot wear cologne (allergic) and so i continued sniffing on the kitchen floor and looking at the stud supposedly wearing it.  this is what mid-life is like, ok.

no furiousfingers thinks s/he better than 3 of you, which is probably wrong but I don't really know him/her too well so i oculdnt say, but if you are an 8 and we are using a curve scale then all probability points to you being better, and i think we're using a curved scale since it's really hard to come by perfect people (10) and I don't know what a 0 is.  Maybe the devil is a 0, and since there's only one of him it must be a curved scale, which makes you, an 8, super awesome.

ok.  i get it.  furiousfingers is probably right.  i play easy stuff.  bach, scarlatti, mozart, brahms, schumann, faure, poulenc, barber.  it's not really like chopin, debussy, or liszt, which i love to hear, but don't play well.  i want to learn mussorgsky's pics at an exhibition because they are short pieces attached to one another.  if i think like this, i can get through a long piece.  i dream a lot and practice less than i should.  but, i am getting back into my cycle again. just yesterday i got physically sick from not playing the piano enough.  of course, it rained and thundered and i couldn't make it to west chester, so i had to make due with practice with three year old coming in and interrupting a lot.  but, that's life.

curved scale, huh!  i like that.

is it my teeth.  my breath.  help!  why a kiss for $9,000 dollars?   ok.  i shouldn't be kissing anyone anyway - but skepto, please...you set me up on this thread to hear good stuff.  my, you're killing me.  (chases skepto, blowing kisses)

hmmm - or perhaps, he means the opposite.  i would charge him $9,000 for a kiss.  hmmm.  does he have it?  (skepto has a yacht on the greek island of eikonosis, with light blue water, and a full bar)  pianonut, remembering the movie between demi moore and robert redford, refuses to be seduced and seals her lips.

can't let this thread die without saying who's really awesome.  i think God is awesome.  Daniel said so himself - as i was just reading dan. 9:4 "O Lord, the great and awesome God..."our hope is in Him, as He is the only one able to save us from death.

thanks, derek!  i don't expect people to agree with me on everything, but it's nice once in a while to find someone that at least agrees with God's word.  it's kinda reaffirming.  (since i don't think we are meant to be alone, but to be encouragement for one another)  there's not much difference between meditatating on music you're going to play and meditating on God because as the psalmist David did, he played his meditations (praising God).  it's through Him that our reason for being is made known.

why do you say that?  you haven't heard me play.  i could at least impress you at the end of the semester when i find someone with a digital camera who will take the time to record my spring recital (hoping it will be this spring and not next).

i did play for rich galassini at cunningham pianos.  call him up ask if i would pass.  or, better yet - call me up on the phone and i'll set it down (reeeeeeeeeecchchhhhhh) and play something two rooms away.  it might be a bit muffled, but you'll get to hear my style.  kosseys@comcast.net

ps i would have bought a piano like everyone else, but i had to settle on a bench because of monetary constraints.

pianistimo means pianist imo.

up until a couple of years ago, i thought i was pretty good.  then, i come to the east coast and hear all these wonderful pianists and have to try really hard to even come close to their easiest repertoire.  despite my limited repertoire, i have a lot of determination.  it feeds off of adrenaline (of which i've always had a lot of).  i like challenges (even if it will take until i'm 90) and i want to at least play a piano concerto.  so, this fall, i am taking the class 'the piano concerto.'  i will once and for all prove to the world i am a pianist (even if it is just imo) when i find the exact one to start on. thinking about leroy anderson's.
