bob is 'hot'
on: July 29, 2005, 08:26:17 AM
ok.  you may think i'm just going around flattering people, but i think bob's true identity is hidden under layers of basic questions that noone has dared ask but him.  to teach children, you have to think like them and question everything...otherwise, you'll be stumped on 'where does it say that?'  or, 'what for?'

i think bob is intuitive.  he reaches out to people on mount waikipoko (or whatever), disappears for awhile, reemerges a level higher.  each time he disappears he goes on a trek.  this leads him to higher levels of intuition.

bob, for what it's worth, you are the bomb (as tash or someone else said)!

everyone, feel free to explain to bob why he's hot.

you're right!  but, he's sleeping right now.  and, for what it's worth, bob is a million miles away and probably sleeping, too.  our conversations are staggerred.  sort of like at the park, where you shout into the microphone and wait for it to come out the other end of the thing semi-distorted.  bob doesn't understand me, but thankfully doesn't try very hard.  on the other hand, my husband doesn't understand me, but tries really hard to do everything in his power to make me happy. which means i should not call bob 'hot.'  i mean 'hot' as in volcano lava.  you know, just out there.  you think everything's fine on the forum, and then 'balooeee'  bob's blown something up.

i like bob's computer abilities and the different colors and sizes.  obviously takes time to center, too.  how does one do this so fast?

i like bob, but i don't know him too well.  I don't think he likes me too much cause he always stays off of my topics and doesn't respond to me.  Personally I would like him alot more though if his name were a bit more impressive.  I mean bob is only three letters.  Like meg.  and brown sucks anyways.

(licks finger, sticks it to hip, waits.... continues waiting.... waits a little more....)

Bob sits down to hear explanations of how he is hot, in a professional sense of course.

It's all about templates.

Bob once tried changing his name to "Bob the Great" but Nils wouldn't let him.

bob is the guy that if he was your teacher and your dog just died, he would mourn with you about the loss before trying to complete a full lesson.  in fact, he might just take half the lesson and let you reminisce about your dog.  feeling better, you wouldn't start crying unexplainably halfway through the piece.

where's bob when you need him?  (wishes bob was her teacher on bad days)

bob probably notices things in his students.  ie changes of behavior, motivation, patient with slower students (recognizes limits of each student), etc.  bob is the one that will eat that special something that you brought him right in front of you gleefully.

What can i say? What a brilliant topic Pianonut, it's about time! Bob is indeed hot in many ways...LOL

He is the easiest and most interesting piano forumer to talk to. Sometimes Bob keeps me up to the early hours of the morning on pf- he never shuts up, i've tried to explain about the time difference thing but he still insists on chatting for so long.  ::)

He gives great advice on teaching and life in general and i find comparing (our superior..obviously...) British things to Amercian is rather amusing (don't think he quite got what weetabix were but anyway).

Bob is not that stupid.  Seriously.  Not a smart move on the teacher's part there.

"Think I'll save THIS for later...."
"I'm not hungry right now."
"I just ate."
"I just had a dental checkup."
"I'm on my way out the door, but thanks!"
"What's that?!"  (hides food gift while student looks away) "Oh boy was that good!"
"I have a meeting right now, but I'll save this for later."
Best of all.... "Just set it on my desk and get to it." (....get to it next year probably if it's left on the desk)
"Oh!  You made this yourself?  Well, I'll set it in a special place then!"

I can add their food gifts to my collection of ancient foods and mold artifacts I accumulate throughout the year.

i wasn't meaning stupid, i was meaning that you probably don't feed it to the rabbits out back.   students like it when teachers show genuine appreciation for their appreciation.  of course, if the food is poisoned, that could be terrible.  but, who would poison their PIANO TEACHER?  i could see maybe a terrorist mind doing that - although lately i take it from both sides and don't really fix that much homemade stuff anymore.  suppose store bought is better.

they actually don't allow you to bring homemade items into preschool/ kindergarten classes anymore for that reason.  if someone gets sick, it's thought to be the barney cookies and not the apple juice.  now that's really strange!

Yes.  No offense meant here.

Picture this.... It's 8am.  You've got a full day of teaching ahead.  A student comes to you with a muffin they "made themself."  You've got the WHOLE day packed with teaching to do.  You going to eat that muffin? :o :o :o :-[ :-[ :-[ :-X :-X :-X :-\ :-\ :-\

Even the store bought stuff could be contaminated with a needle.  :o  Or maybe it was a gift to that person from last year?  Maybe it's candy that has been sitting around a few years.  Yum, yum....

They can be well intentioned, but they can also be very unhygenic too.  :P

Keep it in mind if you're giving a gift.  Don't give food unless you know the person really well.  If you do give food, make sure it's extremely wrapped or boxed up and fresh from the store.

No more coffee mugs!  No more cheap tacky things!

Money is good.  Nice elegant knick knacks for the music office are good.  Homemade artwork that looks somewhat nice is good.  Nice things decorate the office and give it a "good teacher" look.

Of course, all gifts must be cleansed and decontaminated.  Boiled and bleached to remove germs.

(Bob suddenly realizes he cannot leave this thread.   ??? ??? ??? Doing so would require touching the doorhandle which most likely has germs on it.  Bob stands and stares at the doorknob, waiting for someone to enter so he can exit without touching the doorknob [which may have germs on it]  Thank god you viewed this thread because Bob was waiting for so long to be able to leave).

It is a good idea to disinfect the piano keys now and then.

bob, did you scald yourself pouring boiling water on the keys?

ps do you think just plain soapy water on a papertowel (and then a rinse paper towel - and of course, dry paper towel) is good enough for key cleaning?

i must say, there must be something about music teachers because about 99% of my music teachers have been the biggest legends on the planet and my most favourite of teachers, and they just keep getting better!!

he has a sensitive side and is not afraid to express it.  we can relate to the doorknob and keyboard experience.  most guys go into a practice room and don't feel the slime on the keys.  bob is sensitive and will immediately, intuitively feel the slime and disinfect (keeping his students healthy in his studio) and from knobbing too much without anyone cleaning the door handles.  ps siberian husky, be quiet about the tongue.  we don't want bob doing that for attention.  he's hot enough.

pianonut opens the door and is overcome by the smell of disinfectant.  bob is green.  too much waiting has done him in.  he should have escaped when he had the chance.  this is the terrible thing about teaching.  whatever cleaning materials have been used (or, in some cases defumigation) teachers are forced to smell it.  opens the window for bob.

Yeah, this happens often.  All the time, so I suppose I'm used to it by now.   One of the crosses I must bear.  ::)

I would only use soap and water on the keys.  I'll start a thread.

Vomitting is very motivating.  Words to live by.

Bob turns on the air conditioning and thus becomes... no longer hot.   :D  Ah.....
