Manny Ax/LSO!!!!!!
on: July 30, 2005, 07:03:54 AM
SO tonight I went to see Manny Ax play tonight in Daytona with the LSO...and HE BLEW MY MIND! Did any of you by chance get out there?  Or any of the LSO shows in daytona these last few weeks?!  AnYWAYS!  He was SUPPOSED to play the Brahms 2nd piano concerto but he fell in the shower this morning and hurt his back and was in the hospital for hours before the show.  He said that he couldnt physically handle it so he played Mozart piano concerto, like, 2,385 or something.  But still, it blew my mind! And THEN! the LSO played Brahms' 4th symphony.  ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!  I wish i could have seen them do Mahler 5 last week :'(  I think i have found a contender to seeing Bronfman playing Prok 2 with the Pitt symphony.....anyways! Hope all are well!

Cheers!
Ricky

I saw Ax and Bronfman perform piano duos of:

Schumann - Canonic Etudes
Debussy - En Blanc et Noir
Ravel - La Valse
Stravinsky - The Rite of Spring

Encore - Brahms sonata (don't recall the specifics)

Best concert I've been to. And Emanuel Ax is such a jolly guy, I enjoyed meeting both pianists  :)
