thalburgmad doesn't even have an oil painting.  he does have a collection of family pics in a cave in france, though.

thalburgmad, you disappoint me!   i thought when you said you liked yma, you were serious.  i was just going along with it for the fun.  it did raise some red flags.  after all, elvis was before my time.
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

help!  if you saw my childhood pictures you might reconsider.  that's why my husband and i get along.  we weren't particulary cautious children and always had something out of place.  scraped knee, bad haircut, tooth missing, you know. so when we saw each others childhood pic's, it wasn't too much of a shock.  for both of us, it just got worse in highschool.  that's why he played in the band, and i accompanied choirs on piano.  we led hermitish lives and our mother's overprotected us.

no, childhood pics are not a good idea.  i seem to take the best pictures when not expecting the picture.  (for instance passport, drivers license, school id - no posing done and one eye is slightly shut).  actually this past year, i had my FIRST good drivers license pic.  surprise!  usually i say, 'can i possibly take this over again'...and they say, 'not until you lose your id.

someday maybe i'll make a calendar for my husband again.  when we first married, i went and bought 12 suimsuits at the end of summer while they were all on sale.  then, i had a girlfriend take pics at the beach.  it wasn't bad.  one of the swimsuits was so strange i couldn't figure how to put it on.  it wraped around this way and that, but didn't cover much.  (hope i didn't have it on backwards).  now, i try to get pics with the best looking parts in isolation (hands, legs, feet).  just kidding.  seriously, there is a lot to posing.  if you turn sideways, for instance, you look really skinny.  i look best in subdued lighting.  because i have very fair skin, when i get under florescent light, i turn sort of yellow.  the most interesting change in my skin color was inside a tanning booth.  the blue lights made me look really brown and i thought i had a tan, until i went out again.  alas, my best tans have been with bottled tanners.  they dont' burn, and if applied several times don't leave your elbows and portions of your back kind of spotted.

cute!  your mom is good looking, too.

i think my children look better than me.  i'll post some favorites if i can figure out how.

ps. koji, i heard you play (november 2004 recital) liszt's 'rakoczy march' on the radio last night.  when i first heard, i wondered 'who is that?'  when they said koji, i almost fell over.  of course, i had to keep under control since my husband was driving - and act like everything was normal.  secretly, i was clapping and shouting yaaah koji.  whistle, whistle.

LOL; I'd forgotten that the Philly station (WHYY I think?) was going to re-broadcast that recital.

Oh right; WRTI.  I think WHYY is supposed to broadcast a chamber music recital we played in Philly a while back (at least they were sticking cameras everywhere during that performance--they were even backstage ::))
