Certainly is.

My old ma used to go to some of her wartime concerts in London. St Martins in the Fields i think. She used to carry on playing even during an air raid when everyone else was running for the shelters.

Great pianist.

I bought a friend Glenn Gould's Goldberg Variations since she has almost no CDs, let alone classical music CDs. She though he was Ugly. But at least she liked the music.

Then I was unable to explain the "a 1 clav.", "a 2 clav." and "a 1 o 2 clav." words behind some variations. I noticed these too on the score. I have no idea what they mean. Someone?

"a 1 clav." = "for 1 manual"
"a 2 clav." = "for 2 manuals"
"a 1 o 2 clav." = "for 1 and 2 manuals"

So, as some rocket scientists may have concluded: Bach wrote the Goldberg Variations for an instrument with two manuals. (I hope manual=keyboard in english. Otherwise I'd seem like a Finnish guy from Sweden who doesn't know english music terms. The horror!)

skepto,  you're not bad looking.  why did you post your pic here?  or is that someone else?    you should put it in the 'hot pianists' thread.  although, if you are *?, i guess that you aren't trying very hard.

(whispers to herself...why are they all good looking?  i mean, all the *? guys?  what's the problem?  they don't like attention?  they can't stand girls to tell them they look good?  what is it? they all have straight teeth, symmetry (you know, the gold olympic standard), and probably do things perfectly (play piano, polo, cricket, rugby, speak five languages, etc).

ok. girls.  go for skeptotomus.  let's see if someone can change him into the stud he is already.  (hoping he isn't a mass murderer like thalbergmad)
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

people only scare me by their actions (so skepto is ok until he tells us that that pic looks like he's 17   ahahahahah)  he's trying to be younger!  and i'm 18 *(over 40)

why doesn't he want to be legal age?  is he trying to hide something.

he's at least in his 20's ok.  don't let him fool you by all his reading.

siberian husky,  tuscan sam, that's funny.
have you ever seen a pic of modest mussorgsky?  his nose is sort of red.  maybe it was just the pic i saw (blown up 100x on choral wall)

ps don't say anything about my beloved beethoven.  i wouldn't care how ugly he was.  i still love him.  (*whispers my eternal beloved)

Hard to tell actually, but as much as I really love his music, particularly his Rhapsodies, Liszt's older representations are pretty much something only a mother could love:  the long nose, the facial warts, the stringy white hair.  Ouch!
