My repertoire seems overly heavy on romantic music. Oh well.

Beethoven Sonata No. 9 in E major
Bach-Busoni: Chaconne in D minor
Chopin: Ballade 1
Chopin: Ballade 2
Chopin: Prelude 24
Liszt: Transcendental Etude No. 8 in C minor, "Wilde Jagd"
Liszt: Transcendental Etude No. 10 in F minor, "Appassionata"
Liszt: Mephisto Waltz No. 1

Later on I'll polish Rach preludes 23/2, 23/5, 23/7, Chopin preludes 15, 16, and Liszt Liebestraume. They could use some finishing.

My favorite piano pieces - Liszt Sonata in B minor, Beethoven's Hammerklavier, Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit, Alkan's Op. 39 Etudes, Scriabin's Sonata-Fantaisie, Godowsky's Passacaglia in B minor.

what is it with learning many things at once?

me: Debussy - Clair de lune.

The reason I try to learn more than one piece at a time is that if I get bored, annoyed or just plain stuck on one, I can go to another. Then when I've had enough of that I can go back to the first, and usually I am no longer bored, annoyed or stuck. I like to practice each piece in short sessions, otherwise I can feel my playing getting worse. Each time you start to practice, the piece is fresher, and not just being repeated over and over.

Also, I'm learning more pieces. Rather than learning, say, one new piece a month, I learn 3 new pieces in 2 months. Try it. But try to make sure that the pieces are very different, otherwise it may get confusing.

Cheers,

Thanks. It's a lot more interesting than churning out mainstream repertory that half the world is playing (and, in many cases, playing better than I would!).
