Is this even possible?
on: August 09, 2005, 01:56:47 AM
Is playing measures 15 and 16 at 128 bpm possible? Even worst the original copy of this piece shows that you should accelerate in tempo in each measure. Can anyone provide fingerings for this section?

Measures 17 and 18 are marked rit. in the original copy so that one i can understand.

I can't see any problem with 15-16,  if it's fingered

ascending
5 3 5 4 3
2 1 2 1 1

descending
4 5 3 (5)
1 2 1

the speed should be ok

the bar below looks very uncomfortable to play.  It looks as though the first, (maybe third), fourth and seventh notes in the ring could be played in the left hand, with the left hand D of the penultimate ringed note played with the right hand, which would avoid lots of tricky leaps.

Thanks, I know there isn't anything difficult about getting the fingerings for those sections, I just wanted to try out different fingerings to see if I can speed up and reach at least somewhere near 135 bpm.

The question "Is this even possible" was targeted really at bar 17 which I just caught had repeated notes on bar 17 making it seem difficult.

Thanks again.

Yes, it is a guitar etude, one of the 12 by Villa-Lobos. I've listened to the original etude in guitar and it seems to me that whoever transcribed it just added a bunch harmony and bass notes to the melody. Then again thats why I like it, reminds me alot of the "Ocean Etude" which I also like.

Not really, I copied that section of the orginal piece to finale 2003 so I can save it as a image file. I found it easier. ;D
