i want an audition thread too!!
on: August 09, 2005, 06:50:34 AM
i was planning on avoiding having such a topic because it's probably boring the hell out of some people, and i wasn't prepared to have anyone criticise my pieces since i don't really have much choice and didn't want to learn anything new in less than 2 months. but that's when i thought i'd be auditioning in september, and have now discovered i'm doing it in november so i'm really annoyed.

but that's not the point. point it, the pieces i was planning on playing i don't necessarily want to keep playing til november, in which case i need 2 new contrasting pieces. the practical part is only 10 minutes long so i only need like a couple of 5 minute pieces. my current pieces i was playing was the 4th movement from beethoven's op27 no.1 sonata and the debussy passepied. so tell me if that's a really dumb choice and i'll go have a search. ultimately i'm not overly fussed about terrible difficulty, because we have to do some singing and aural.theory tests in it, so prac isn't the whole thing, and i'm practically in anyway. so any comments on these 2 pieces, or new pieces that aren't way over my head would be cool and most appreciated!!

learn what you want.  not what others want you to learn.  learn what will make you the happiest in the end.
