How to practice these trills?
on: August 09, 2005, 01:46:36 PM
Hi, I've got a problem with trills. I don't mean "normal" trills but trills which are like this:
i.e:
trill on (sixteenth duration) C, then B and back to C (both thirty-second duration)
Hope you understand it
I actually can play these trills but the problem is that they aren't clear. These five notes sound like two or three.
What can I do about it?

Hmmmm.....
Sometimes the reason people can't make that particular ornament clear is that they are "stinging" the first note--accenting it. Then the other notes get played on the rebound and they sound unclear. Try starting from the surface or the key of the first C. Don't use any hand or arm weight. Just *touch it.* Then you'll have more forward momentum through the other notes and they'll be clearer.
