advice please
on: August 12, 2005, 01:38:07 AM
Hello all.  I'm currently looking to study overseas for post grad studies (or private).  I live in Australia and was thinking of looking to study in Europe somewhere - Germany or England possibly.  It's rather hard finding out whether a good player is a good teacher without having lessons with them.
Does anyone have e-mail addresses or websites or knowledge that would be useful in helping me decide on a place to go?
Thanks

The conservatory in Amsterdam has very well known good teachers, like Hakon Austbo and Jan Wijn. Every teacher there is a good teacher, so you can go to Amsterdam.

ahm, ok thanks.  I've tried looking on websites of the hochschules in germany but they don't really say that much.  I guess what I would like to know is along the lines of the last post - who are the well known teachers and where they teach.

Maybe you could try posting your question on a German music forum. If you don't speak German most German students in higher education have pretty good English and you might well get a response. This forum is the only one I've found; it looks and operates similarly to Piano Street, Piano World  etc.and people ask familiar questions;

Once logged in, go to Themenbereich Klaviermusik.

All the best.
