Competition Auditions

Hi,

Quick question.

Looking to enter the 2009 Yamaha Outstanding Amateur Competition (London), and I'd like to start doing some basic preparation.

As an audition, a recording of two contrasting pieces lasting no more than 15 minutes should be sent in.

8 people will be shortlisted for the finals, for which there is free choice of pieces, but again, maximum duration is 15 minutes.

Any ideas on performance reportoire?

Thanks,
Kaveh

What the heck, my ideas out on a limb:

-Dello Joio's Capriccio on the Interval of a Second

-Soler's Sonata in F

-Griffe's Barcarolle (transcription of "Belle Nuit, o Nuit d'Amor" from Offenbach's Les   Contes d'Hoffmann)

-Ponce's Prelude & Gugue on a Theme of Handel

-Cortot's transcription of Franck's Sonata in A Major

-Bolcom's Three Ghost Rags

*You can search for these on Amazon to hear snippets from CDs if you're not familiar with them.   Good luck!!
