Heh, and I thought this thread was dead...  ;)

Well, being 2005 now I can say that oil was a good investment (Chevron-Texaco anyhow).  I haven't done my homework about the latest technologies and so I'm still up for suggestions.
stick to mutual funds.
You're not thinking high-volatility ;).  Plus I'm not willing to pay someone else to plan a portfolio that I can assemble myself.

That's smart, you'll go far.  Nothing worse than watered down retail investments. :P

what about wal-mart?

seriously, i saw the pres of wal-mart on tv the other day. he was being grilled for the usual.  "why are all the jobs going overseas, cheap labor??  huh huh. " and the guy just calmly said - all corporations are competitive - or something like taht - and the bottom line is the customer.  if the customer wants a good price, they come here.

ok.  i tried to not shop at wal-mart, but if you have children under 5 - you can't help but go there for birthday supplies, paper, pens, (3-5 year olds aren't picky) clothes, toys, shampoo, soap, lotion, etc. etc.  and, they're the only store that you can find a cart with a broomstick on it (makes you feel really good looking).  i try not to pick those carts, or the ones with squeaky wheels, or the ones that you have to shove across the floor because all of the wheels are stuck with bubblegum.  yes, wal-mart, the great investment.

THEN there's pharmaceuticals.

of course, i've not really been investing that way.  i have a strawberry patch out back.  i got a decent return and they are perinneal strawberries so i know i'll get some next year, too.
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.
