D'you reckon this would be a good programme?
on: August 21, 2005, 08:05:11 PM
1) Chopin etudes - Revolutionary (Blow at the beginning...:) ); op. 10 no. 7

2) Schubert - Impromptus op. 90 no. 1, 2, 3 (possibly even no. 4)

----- intermission -----

3) Beethoven - Sonata op. 10 no. 1

4) Liszt - Transcendental Etude no. 11 (Some spectacular-ish closing piece...)

And something easy for encore, like Debussy's Doctor Gradus or something from Schumann's Kinderszennen...

Thoughts?

Thanks.

I'd switch the order around

Beethoven
Chopin
- - - - - - - -
Schubert
Liszt

id actually prefer to hear the liszt TE last, maybe as the encore itself.

this work has such a profound emotional impact on me that almost nothing can follow it,  the only thing that could follow it is chasse neige!  ;D

I like your order, but go ahead and do the 4th Impromptu, otherwise it will seem incomplete; if you can play the first 3, why not do them all? :)

Looks like a good programme.  I think I'd do the Schubert first though.  And definitely play the 4th impromptu, for the sake of completeness (also it has a really good ending).

i agree with the above...definately play the fourth impromptu...but for the encore please learn one of the horowitz encores...he knew more than just playing, but about captivating the audience...any of his transcriptions or anything he played as an encore would probably be best...even if it means learning a new piece that much harder (his stars and stripes forever transcription could literally leave people breathless)

are there any other beethoven sonatas you would consider?  i think op 10 # 1 is just..ok, but thats just me.  ASide from that i think is interesting.  also, try playing around with the order a bit.
