Chopin Etude and Random Improvisation
« on: August 24, 2005, 03:36:32 AM »
my first recordings for pianostreet(well, videos ;) )...

just made these little videos this morning, they suck pretty badly, and i played them completely without warmup(and havent played for a few days before this)

lots of wrong notes, and the camera sucks

a random improv based on a theme i composed in d minor -

http://dasdc.net/forum/download.php?id=381

chopin op25no12(with added sorabjian influences perhaps) -

http://dasdc.net/forum/download.php?id=380

my pedal is broken, i can either have it completely down or up, so its held down all through the improv, and theres zero pedal in the 25/12

and yep, i need a better new camera...

thanks to my friend for hosting the links, enjoy!  ;D

I think it takes a lot of you know what to post this piece with a broken pedal, so that's impressive. I never learned it (it's on my list) so I can't say much else.

Love the Lang Lang DVD in the backround.  Do you have the matching poster?  ;D

25/12: Not too shabby all things considered.  The articulation good possibly be clearer, but hard to say on a digital, so I'll just say good work.  Pedal is definitely a necessity for this etude but the spirit is still captured in your rendition.  One thing you should maintain throughout this piece is PATIENCE.  There is an inevitable tendency to rush in Chopin etudes and perhaps a good way to avoid this is now practice it again with a metronome at half speed a couple times a day. This can greatly help when taking this piece at or above tempo, as it gives one complete dynamic/technical control at all times, enabling the performer to communicate their own/Chopin's intentions.
