sheet music inquiry; recording question
on: August 26, 2005, 05:00:49 AM
Hello, everybody. I am still relatively new to this forum, and i must say i have enjoyed thoroughly the quips and comments that go hand-in-hand with each thread...i do however have a brief few questions:

1. I recently moved and have lost my hard-bound copy of the prokofiev sonatas...i was wondering if there was a copy of the third available online, or perhaps it could be updated on the shet music list...i can get paper bound copies at my local music store of all but the third...and its on back order, aka will be forever before it gets here

2. I would like very much to put a recording of me playing some liszt on this website, so that you may see what i am about and how and why i love liszt so much. I would love to post a transcription or one of his etudes, or perhaps even the sonata...i could also throw in a very old recording (about five years ago) of me playing the prokofiev toccata. Just want to know what would interest all of you and what you would most like to hear.

Greetings, Thou who likes Liszt a lot,

The following site may provide you with all the Prokofiev scores you're looking for.  Bon appetit!

Which Liszt transcription(s) do you play?

Dear thou who plays Liszt,

Forgot to mention - much of the page is in Cyrillic; Ms. Pita has the right link for the sonata you're looking for, but if you want more, perhaps you ought to seek out a Russian speaking friend, or better yet, learn the language.

Good luck!

Best,
Bill

i play all of his transcriptions except for his auber tarantella, which i love, but have forgotten over a couple of years...i only remember bits and pieces.

Basically, give me your request and i can probably play it if its liszt or a prok sonata

Mr. Pita is correct, no hard feelings though  :)

Reminiscences de Norma.

I'll second that, it's not that long either if I remember correctly.

I'd like to hear the rigoletto fantasy, the wagner isoldes liebestod or his william tell overture transcription. The first two are relatively short.

Ugh. Rigoletto. Ugh...

I'd rather hear the Liebestod.

At the risk of a severe beating, I would like to submit that the Moszkowski-Wagner Liebestod is superior to the Liszt.
