Godowsky Exercises (not studies)
on: August 26, 2005, 12:57:28 PM
I did a search on the forum and only came up with a mentioning of this exercises but nothing further. I was wondering if anyone here plays them? They look like a sophisticated warm-up, nowhere near the complexity of Brahms 51 or Liszt exercises tho. But they look a lot with what I always do when I sit down at the bench :) Finger independence, finger mental practice and stretching (I had one go at them before a chopin etude practice and I could clearly notice the improvement). Anyway, thoughts!

I played through a few of this but didn't like them much. I don't have the patience for technical exercises.

Yes the Cortot are great too, a lot more of pedagogy in it. His prefaces to the chopin studies are always useful and I never skip them :) Good exercises.
