There's the Prokofiev recording, which sucks, and the Moiseiwitsch, which (like every other moiseiwitsch) may irritate you due to his unorthodox reading. I like i tho, you can check www.naxos.com for it.
Boris Berman has recorded all of the Prokofiev piano works and they are good!
Yes , they are the bst IMO! He doesn't use Prokofiev as a punching bag like many pianists do; if you want to hit the piano ( someday it will hit you back ) play some Ornstein.
If we're talking about the same proko recording, which is the 1935 one, it really doesn't do anything for me, in the virtuosity argument nor the musical. I know - comparing moiseiwitsch with proko and then favouring moiseiwitsch may come as an ignorant remark, but it's just the way these recordings present themselves to me. Anyway, I already changed my mind and I favour Gavrilov, which is something I can deffo get away with.here you go: 3,48 MB Gavrilovhttps://rapidshare.de/files/4437241/prokofiev_romeo__juliet_ravel_gaspard_de_la_nuit_11_prokofiev_suggestion_diabolique_op_4_no_4.mp3.html(granted proko's version of the piece may match his writing better, but mood may vary and so may preferences)whatever.
Boris Berman plays the weakest Scriabin Sonatas 4 and 5 that I've ever heard.
You must admit Prokofiev is laser clean! The first time I ever heard it what struck me was the clean disciplined approach as opposed to the "punching bag" school of Prokofiev playing (which Sandor often indulges in).
Richteror you could settle for MUCH less with my own rec of it. https://www.pianosociety.com/index.php?id=247
