Rachmaninov Vocalise Score
on: August 30, 2005, 05:45:04 PM
Greetings All!

I'm out and about hunting for another score: the Rachmaninov Vocalise as transcribed by Zoltan Kocsis.  While there are goodness knows how many versions of the piece out there, that really is the one that does it for me.  If any of you out there have it, or posees knowledge of it, please let me know - I would be deeply indebted to you.

Gracias!

Best,
Bill

Is this the arr. that Kissin plays? I have a recording of him doing a solo piano version but I thought that it was rachmaninoff's own arrangement coz he arranged it for so many instrumental combinations.
Never look at the trombones. You'll only encourage them.

No. Kissin plays Richardson arrangement. There is another, absolutely gorgeous Gilels recording.

Pabst,

Thanks for the Kocsis score. I play Richardson, but will also look into this one.

Dear Mr.Pabst,

Thank you so much for the Kocsis arrangement, which I've already put to use.  Is there anything I can send you?

Also, to you who is playing the Richardson score, and to you who knows the Gilels score, are these versions also available online?

Best,

Bill

Hi!
Would it be possible for someone to repost the score or links to that score (the images don't appear anymore)
I understand there are many version of the piano solo for Vocalise. Which one's the best? And How would you grade this piece in difficulty?
Thanks :)

I like Earl Wild's arrangement the most.  It has the biggests buildups and best harmonies.
