Between 1 and 2 hours a day, occasionally a bit over that, maybe 3. Plus guitar. I practice a lot of guitar.

Lately? Only 30 minutes. I'm sick of the pieces I'm working on. Normally I get up to around 2 hours.
Ahh llamas......is there anything they can't do?

I'll have what I call a "serious" practice for about 1-2 hours per day, which is split up into various sections.  I generally start with a warm-up piece (usually not "drills" such as Czerny or that evil person whose name starts with an H, but instead something I know well, enjoy playing, and isn't taxing on the fingers).  I'll then dive into working on what I call my current "Marquee Piece"  (possible spelling issues there).  This will be the big, monster piece that I'm working on at the time (A Chopin etude/impromptu; a Debussy prelude; etc.).  If I'm near the beginning of my work, I'll simply take one or two sections and work on them over and over again, playing them hands separately at first and very slowly, then eventually combining and speeding up a bit.  If I'm already a bit into the piece or near the end, I'll pick several sections to work on and then play the entire piece through two or three times.  Then comes my sightreading section.  I love sightreading, and can often spend way more than I intended reading a new piece or two.

I'll also come back to the piano several more times throughout the day to "mess around": play fun songs, easy songs, popular songs, etc.; and improvise.  I am just coming to love the feeling of improvisation.  It is an incredible feeling to simply sit at the piano bench and perform something I can call nothing other than "channeling music."  (However, I'm not that coherent when it comes to improvisation.  If you have a burning desire to help me here, please consider posting in this thread:
https://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php/topic,12150.0.html)

All in all, I will often spend 2 1/2 ---  3 hours at the piano in one day.  Of course, I'm not sure how well this'll hold up at college (starting this Thursday).

Hope this helped.

Terry

I tend to do anywhere between 1 and 3 hours a day. I usually have a break one day a week.

I will do technique in the morning - right now Im doing Hanon and just started Czerny 160 exercises. I interspers these with periods of 'noodling', ie running up and down scales and any other little technical thing Im working on.

Basically just a good work out.

Later in the day I like to spend some time practicing any pieces Im doing. This session is a lot more chilled out.

I find this is about as much as I can handle. I'd like to practice more, but I dont think it would be worth it as Id be in no shape for the following day.

Bad day- about 3 hours
Very good day (more often)- between 6 to 10 (weekends, holidays, and all the days I skip school- more often than I should... but the music is addictive)
Any other day- anything in between.

And I only ever practise constructively and effectively. Its the  only way that works. Otherwise its just a waste.

Today was a bad day.
I dont play an instrument, I play the piano.

I try to get an hour in. I should be doing 1.5-2, but I train with a track club every day after school, and after homework, I usually have to stay up past my 'bedtime' to get any practicing in at all. So, I'm really pretty bad as far as practicing goes.

I practice between 4 and 7 hours. Depends on what I have to learan, or what sort of mood i'm in. Or whate time I wake up in the morning. I practice well late at night and very early. I don;t konow why that is though. I find if I spend morning learning new notes, and spend hours doing that, i can rest and let it all settle, the return later and really get the notes under my belt. I hate learning something, then going to bed, and waking up the next day, and spend 30 minutes covering ground you aready did the day before, whereas if I do it all in a day, I'm satisfied, and can stert where i left off the next day

Depends on my mood. When I'm in a bad mood, I don't even look at the piano (well a keyboard in my case), because it won't satisfy me playing it when I have other things on my head.

But mostly I play every day, atleast 1,5 hour or more. The only problem I have (well, "problem") is that I want it all perfectly. If I make one mistake, I start the whole song over again, until I don't make any mistakes. Maybe that's good in some ways, but it can be annoying too. The good thing about it is that I do all the parts of the song over and over again, so eventually I have no problems with any part of the song.
