Audition Repertoire (part 3)
on: September 04, 2005, 10:58:08 PM
Okay, here's the third (and probably final) revision to my audition program.

Bach: Italian Concerto, 1st movement

Beethoven: Sonata No.8 'Pathetique' Op.13

Liszt: Sonnetto del Petrarca No.104 in E major

Debussy: Prelude Bk.I, No.10 'The Sunken Cathedral'

Scriabin: Etude Op.2, No.1 in C-sharp minor*

I'm not changing anything once school begins, so this will be the last 'installment'.

Let me hear your opinions.

*= Denotes the fact that I know this is not virtuosic. If Oberlin doesn't like it, they can go find someone else because it means I don't have enough experience under my belt to go there. I play this etude damn well, and interpretation (I've been pushing this the whole time) is just as important as virtuosity.

Oberlin College, Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, Willamette University, and the University of Oregon.

Well, if you say you're not going to change anything, then what else is there to say?

I personally think your Liszt, Debussy, and Scriabin combined makes for a really slow, dragging program, but you can probably pull it off if you give everything a proper rhythmic pulse.

Hi.  Im auditioning at Oberlin among other universities.  Other ones are University of Cleveland, U of Toronto, Saint Olaf in minnesota, and maybe some other canadian ones.
I hear Oberlin has a football team.  Its probably my top university choice.  My program is something like this.

Bach P&F no 4. bk1, or no 5. bk. 2

Beethoven Moonlight or 111

Chopin Polonaise

Kabalevsky preludes 16 and 24

La Campanella

That would be weird if we both made it and went there, and actually met eachother.  Weird stuff...
