What to assign...
on: September 06, 2005, 03:59:22 PM
I have two intermediate students that are finishing current pieces.

One is finishing Gershwin's Novelette in Fourths and Alicia Keys' Butterflys, and I want to assign him a piece that uses lots of left hands, because he's worked on left hand exercises for a couple of months (not in jumps, but rather in scales and arpeggios).

The other one is finishing Grieg's In the Hall of the Mountain King and Mozart alla turca rondo, has been working on repeated notes exercices, and I am looking for an intermediate piece with repeated notes patterns.

Any recommandations ? Thanks.

I have some suggestions :

Mendelssohn Scherzo, Op. 16, no 2
SWW Lost Illusions Op 67, no 2
SWW Agitation Op 53, no 3
                      SWW The Poet's Harp, Op 38, no3
Saint-Saens  The Swan
Haydn           some Sonatas
Field              Nocturne no 9 ou 14

The other one is finishing Grieg's In the Hall of the Mountain King and Mozart alla turca rondo, has been working on repeated notes exercices, and I am looking for an intermediate piece with repeated notes patterns.

Mendelssohn also the Scherzo Op 16, no 2
Chopin         Grande valse brillante Op 18

Good luck
