Question on mordent - Bach BWV 939
on: September 07, 2005, 08:36:07 PM
Hi all,

When playing a mordent in the LH that occurs on the first beat of a measure in which the RH also plays on the first beat, what note of the mordent sequence plays with the RH?  An example is in measure 9 of Bach Prelude BWV 939 (LH mordent is G, F#, G and RH is B).

Thanks,
atticus

You are asking whether to play on the beat or before the beat. Check out the following site, which also  covers other ornaments you will be running into.

Have fun!

Thanks very much, xvimbi!  From this site it looks like the mordent should be played on the beat.

Take care,
atticus
