Video footage of Rachamninoff
on: September 10, 2005, 02:13:13 PM
I have recently seen the documentery "The Art of Piano". In which there is a small amount of video footage of rachmaninoff, not playing, just standing around. Is anyone aware if any footage has ever been captured of Rachmaninoff at the piano, however short that footage may be, does it or could irt exist somwhere. I guess my real question is, was Rachmaninoff ever filmed at the piano, even if the footage has since been lost.

There is a footage of him playing the piano in 'The Art of Piano' - I am almost 100% sure.  I only saw the DVD once so it might be my mind going doolally due to how much I want to see Sergei play the instrument but I highly doubt it - I'm still quite young and sane.  I'll check it again.

Or ask others who've seen 'Art of Piano'

Thanks for the link, very interesting, but still the question exists. I find it very difficult to believe that he was not filmed at some point. Could it be the holy grail of footage

I know 'Harvest of Sorrow' has video footage of him but I can't remember if he's at the piano or not.
The last of Howard Goodall's great dates has Prokofiev playing at the piano (sligthly off topic but interesting none the less)
Never look at the trombones. You'll only encourage them.

to continue off topic a bit, there are recordings and possibly some videos of prokofiev playing that have been unreleased. There is speculation that they are in a vault somewhere.
