ok ok this is very infuriating...

you stupid males are always complaining about us females being too fat, and yet you put up posters of stick figures like liz hurley on your wall...then when we try to loose weight cause we feel bad about ourselves, you all ridicule us?

maybe you should just let your gf diet if she freakin wants to, I mean, if a girl wants to be skinny that's her choice...its not about what you prefer!
i solemnly swear i am up to no good ;-)

Guys put up posters of skinny girls on their walls because girls and society incourage it, sadly. They idealize this particular image and tell men this is what they want. The stupid men then say to them selves, this is what we want.

But strangely when it comes down to it. A guy in interested in pretty much one thing with just about every female he incounters, even the 'fat' ones, though many wont admit it. It's just the absurdly large ones that are turn offs (probably because a certain amount of huge is unnatural).

So as long as you're not a freak to look at then you have no problems, and if you are ah believe you have more important things to worry about than what a guy thinks of you...

Yeah, society tends to do that. But y'know, the gender-generalizations have truth to them, generally ;D, and us men pretty much prefer the ladies who're in shape. Before anything else, we notice "Is she hot?", we're a tad shallow that way. I'm sure the ladies wouldn't mind for their guys to lose the beer gut, have a little muscle, nice hair... They're just not so hardwired as guys are towards physical beauty. Sometimes I'll be checking out a girl before I'm even aware that I am :o, oops.

I doubt any of us stupid males are opposed to the females losing weight, all for it really. What gets irritating is to be whining about it. If she wants to lose weight, good for her I'll cheer her on, if she's only complaining and being all negative about it please take it elsewhere, nobody wants to hear that.

I agree that someone should change only for themselves, but I would suggest that if one wants attention from the opposite sex, one should consider their preferences.

This post is reinforcing the popular opinion that men are more analytical, and women are more emotional. I am 15, in tenth grade, I am very analytical, I do not do any thing until I have thought about the consequences, and if it will actually matter in the long run. I really do not enjoy talking to girls that much because I consider them to be overly hormonal about most things. I have observed some girls in my classes and they tend to always never do anything that would be a challenge or that would be against popular opinion. ex. I could never get a girl to go to a symphony even if they might like classical music which none of the girls I associate with do.

A lot of what you're saying has more to do with age and could easily be said about guys too... At that age, in school, nearly everybody's insecure in some way. Popularity was the name of the game, so popular opinion rules. A lot of that group mentality is human nature, it's just how we are.

Guys put up posters of skinny girls on their walls because girls and society incourage it,

Most of the very / extremely thin fashion models etc adorn the pages of magazines and advertise products that are aimed at women.

I'd say, as you have, that men are less critical. When I read the kind of tabloid celebrity crap and popbitch type stuff, it's, if we're going to use sweeping generalisations, "stupid women" that are going on about the size of Britney's arse or so-and-so's visible pantie line or whatever other crap that no bloke [or at least not many in our stereotype world] gives the first $#%$ about, and probably wouldn't even notice.

They are largely fake pictures anyway. Pictures taken from 1/2 mile away with a telephoto lens to flatter with the perspective, and then photoshopped into an ideal. It's no surprise that from time to time the people photographed diet themselves to ridiculous lengths - generally though they are criticised, not praised for it [Dahl, Haliwell etc]

The sunday tabloids / lads mags are as likely to have Abi Titmuss as they are some skinny model, but yes, they still tend to be relatively young and slim.

OTOH, it's not _that_ difficult to be a reasonable weight if you want to be for the vast majority - it's just sensible diet and exercise. You'd think folk would get more upset that the pictures depict women that have many other characteristics that are difficult to obtain - why wuss about the ones that are generally achievable?
