dear kind folks,

someone offered to sell me this, how much should i pay for it?  it's got little scratches here and there but other than that, it seems to be in perfect working condition.  thanks for your kind input.

Checked it out; $1,000 to $2,500, not more than that, unless you really love it. BTW I'm not familiar with current prices, but a student of mine your age just got a slightly used U1 (i think, the tall upright model) for about $4,500, from a dealer and they are more substansial instruments than the P2.

But it's hard to go wrong with a Yamaha, they are tanks, and sound really good considering how affordable they are.

Check the sounding board for cracks; if it's cracked, offer them $800 but don't go over $1,200. In oregon it's probably waterlogged, not cracked though! Keep us posted!

thanks, i'm trying to save some money and buying from a private seller instead of a dealer.  but it takes a lot of courage.

I suggest you don't pay more than $600 for this upright.  If the sounding board is cracked or waterlogged,  :D don't bother.   :)
