30 page essay for bob
on: September 13, 2005, 11:37:58 AM
i couldn't find the snail thread. so i am starting a 30 page biological research paper on snails. whilst helping my 10 year old daughter research animals with symbiotic relationships, i found a bunch of snail pics. undersea snails are bigger and cuter than above the ground snails. and, they have quite a life (symbiotically). take for instance this article:
www.seaslugforum.net/display.cfm?id=14299
"this commensal behavior involving nudibranches from southern california...two of the hitchhikers are juvinile scaleworm polychates on Tritona festiva, THE OTHER IS A JUVINILE AMPHIPOD!" that is a fancy name for underwater snail (right???) he is apparently what they call 'an accidental passenger.'
now my paper will attempt to research the accidental things (randomness) that happen to snails. they actually live more exciting lives because of the random things that happen to them - out of the blue.
going back to the hitchhiking idea "Helen responded (in the forum) with, "that's neat! I've collected Pleurosicya off holothwiransi seapens, and Tridacna BUT NEVER NUDIBRANCHES." less than a fortnight later, Bill added another nudibranch and fish image to the sea slug forum.
hope you enjoy the forum! and, the essay will continue whenever an idea about snails pops into my head.

symbiotic stress. ok. this is the next item of research. now, as piano forum members have a symbiotic relationship - so too, do snails. they benefit from rides they get, and general excitement of others sort of rubs off. but, there's a dark side to it all. one side gets stressed out if the other side becomes to dependent and goes for one too many rides without considering any sort of remuneration (feels guilty about not going for the gold membership) - anyway, the snails are then basically kicked to the sidewalk to start over again. this would be similar to bernhard not posting anymore than three or four words from henceforth. we, in effect, in our symbiotic natures, would start searching other forums to glean what we heretofore have been taking from the likes of bernhard and others that are most knowledgeable. there would be a sort of ride to the next host by word of snail mouth.
thankfully, bernhard has a thick skin and doesn't mind questions that are asked in different ways because he has refined the technique of finding and quoting threads instead of typing something completely from scratch each time. bernhards methods of time- saving backfire when someone asks about a topic that he finds most interesting. it is then, that our symbiotic natures will exhaust him for the day. how long can bernhard keep going, is the question. is there something from the snails that drive him - that give him something? what is the remuneration for a symbolic 'tritona festiva?' maybe the fact that so many are riding on his back? what if he had, say, 100 and one more snail would, in effect, break the symbiotic nature and he decided it would be better to be a clam. these are some of my hypothesis for bob. we must, in effect, monitor bernhard for signs of symbiotic stress.

I'm eating right now. I can't view snail pics. I only really like the typed version -- cartoons. Live ones are disgusting.

To assist in your research of slug behavior.

Oops, I guess you were looking for snails. Maybe it's just a snail in disguise.
