Hi, I am wondering something perhaps kinda elementary for some of you.  I would like to send, via email, one of my students an mp3 of a recording from my computer, where I would have created it in real player.  I am not sure what kind of audio software she has on hers.  Does it matter ?  Could she still open it with whatever she has ?

Or are there any other suggestions ?

Thanks for any info,

If it is an mp3 chances are very high she'll be able to play it.

So long as it's not actually another format that you've saved with an .mp3 extension. [For example, the Sonata in D minor Opus 31 in the audition room has an mp3 extension on the filename but it isn't an mp3 file]

The easiest way, assuming the file is large, do a short file first to check compatibility - if the file isn't that big anyway, just send it and see if it works - chances are it will - and given that quicktime / itunes / realplayer / windows media player are all generally free downloads, she should be able to get something to play it, if she hasn't already.

Thanks leachim.  I went ahead and sent the files along with a link to the Real player website where she can download if needed.
