Chopin - Waltz op. 64 n°2
on: August 06, 2003, 04:04:12 PM
Hello !
I'll start to learn this piece to finish my holidays, trying to learn as much as possible until I re-take lessons in September (I, of course, don't intend to learn the whole piece in several weeks); and, as my teacher left on holiday (ahah lucky one), I would like you (if you already have learned this piece, of course) to give me some advises about this piece, for example which part I should learn first (I'm thinking about beggining with the second part, the "piu mosso" one, because it's the most reccurent (3 times) and difficult, I guess), at what I should pay attention, etc...
Well, thank you very much
and have a nice day
(and sorry for my english)
PS : I forgot, one question : in bar 4 of this piece, right hand (and all the other bar that look like that one), should I play legato all this notes (especially with the grace note) ?
Thank you !

Richter said: "If I didn't finish to memorize the first page, the second I don't take...". You have to pay attention to the pedaling, for not messing it up. In the bars alike you mentioned play legato... but don't forget the pause.

I like this piece. It's nice to play and one of the more interesting waltzes. I'll just add that in the Piu Lento pay attention to the held and tied notes in the left hand. In the first sectionn I've heard a few ways of playing the little appogiatura. Just make it sound clean and melodic. I guess that's all I have to add
