i was practicing (read: struggling) thru Chopin etude op.10 no.2 when i think i hit an epiphany. But maybe you can help out.  Is it true or false, that when u play the piano, u never actually lift the fingers?? u only lift the hand??

i remember reading in godowsky that he said u "mold the keys" does that mean u don't lift every finger up before u play it? and also that u don't lift the finger up, to take it off the key once u have already pushed the key down ?!?!?

You inevitably must lift them at some point  but for the most part this is true.
