If by arabic you mean from arabic countries in a broad sense, I think of Fazil Say.

He's a 30 year-old pianist from Turkey, one of the best of his generation in my eyes, even though he's not very well known.

I recommand his CDs of Bach and Gershwin. I also heard in a couple of posts in the forum about his Paganini Variations, but I haven't have the chance to hear them or get the score.

I have an important name to share with you, and I'm quite surprised you have not idea of this great pianist (Beirut).

Abdel Rahman El Bacha

El Bacha won Queen Elizabeth first prize, and a super specialist of Chopin and Beethoven. Very fine performing and exquisite musicality with no exaggerations nor extra expressivity.

For those who read French have a look here for a bio and discography

he turned 15 recently, but nevertheless, true.

pedram rad, a friend of arha's is also a legendary pianist, i think he is 17 now, and he is already a master of beethoven.

you may not be familiar with these names, because they often go by pseudonyms-

arsha is - da SHAGA

pedram is - da RAMROD

Turkish people aren't arabic(, I think).

I once saw a docu on jewish and arabic young people playing together as an orchestra but that is about it.

I'll tell you about Egyptian pianists coz that's what i know best.

The all-time best virtuoso here is Ramzi Yassa. He studied at the Moscow conservatory and is know a professor at the Ecole normale de musique. He plays Chopin with a very special interpretation. I just watched his Rach 2 performance a couple of months ago with the Cairo symphony orchestra, and he was amazing.

Another upcoming young pianist is Mohamed Shams, 20 years old. He got the 3rd place at the Cleveland competition a couple of years ago. He has a broad repretoire and surely will have a brilliant career.

Other names include Wael Farouk (incredible technique although of his small stature and small hands, he was the first Egyptian to perform Rach 3), Moushira Issa (A respectable pianist with many concert arrangements abroad).

.....  And last but not least, there is the upcoming Horowitz.........(ME !!!)

I assumed that you meant pianists that played on pianos tuned to a quarter instead of a half (Iīm from Sweden so I donīt really know the right words, sorry).

You change tunings in a blink of an eye by using an electric keyboard and thatīs what I use most of the time.

I donīt like the quarter tuning, though!

it is very popular in israel!
we got the arthur rubinstein international piano competition
and i know many pianists here.

it isn't popular among the arabs around here, probably they don't care much for that, they are busy with their own arabic music.

Well. I don't know who was his professor in Moscow coz he went a long time ago.

But you know what, i just met Ramzi Yassa a couple of hours ago !!! He was at a local recital here, he didn't play but he was like the organizer. I took his autograph.
