Worn out key.
on: September 24, 2005, 02:43:56 AM
My piano is in storage while I move house, and I rented a digital piano. It does not have a brand name on the front nor on the back so I am not sure what make it is. The A two octaves below middle C is very soft, and no matter how much "pressure" I use, it won't go much louder than mezzopiano. It doesn't help that my two major pieces right now are in A minor, and use that key. What do you suggest I do?

If it's rented, get them to replace it.

I don't think they'll do that though, some strange policy.

You might try one drop of "Three-in-One" brand oil.
I have tried such fixes myself but I have to warn you, I am not a piano technician.
Good luck--

Well rent another one from them and then cancel the first rental - in that order, so you know you won't get that piano again - or if you cancel then rent, just keep rejecting the delivery of the piano until they deliver one that works. Or refuse to pay and go on Judge Judy. Or get it fixed and subtract the amount from the price of the rental...or...
Be wary that they know about it, otherwise they might say "When you returned it the A key wasn't working, so we're charging you for the fix"
