The trouble is, different hands need different fingering. What is comfortable and works for one may be uncomfortable or even harmful for another. Also, passages which appear to be similar may need different fingering due to context (in other words, it doesn't always work to finger a descending RH scale 54321321).

Yeah, fingering can be a pain--but it's really important that you establish correct fingering for you and then only practice it that way from the very get go.  Once you get used to this routine, fingering gets easier.

At first, if you have really atrocious fingering, I would suggest writing in the fingering for EVERY NOTE in the piece.  Practice small sections using ONLY that fingering.  I think eventually you won't have to write in every single note.  You're fingers will start naturally  doing things in a nicely ordered manner....at least this is how it was for me.

You see, back when I was a teenager, I had terrible fingering.  I never played the same fingering twice.  You should have seen my 2-part inventions...scary.  I could play them fairly well considering the strange contortions my hands would go.  I was a good sight-reader so I didn't always plan ahead for the correct fingering--I'd plow ahead regardless of how I got there.

Anyways....in 9th grade I headed off to a 3-week piano camp at a university.  I went to my first lesson with the the professor.  I started playing my piece (something by Handel, I believe)...he didn't even let me finish.  He just said, "Lesson over.  You go back to your room and write the fingering in for EVERY SINGLE NOTE and don't come back until you play it that way.  Then I can help you....!)  Needless to say, I went back to my room, wrote in all the fingering, practiced like a maniac for two days until my next private lesson and really haven't had a problem with fingering since.  It's amazing.

A person needs to really think carefully about the fingering as one begins a new piece.  The first few times through.

If you cannot live with the fingering in the piece, then change it with a pencil.

However, the one thing you MUST NOT do is keep changing the fingering each time you replay the piece in practicing.

Once you have settled on a fingering, use that fingering EVERY TIME THROUGH.

Otherwise you are on the path to stubborn mistakes that you will not be able to eliminate.  That's my one and only tidbit of wisdom on this topic.

BTW, the advice given thus far has been very good.

Why not spend that money you are going to spend on a computer program and find a teacher? Another benefit in this is human interaction and sharing of knowledge, which you can't get from any computer program unless the A.I. is so good it would take over the world, anyway.

Of course human interaction can be so useful instead of A.I.But there are some reasons which I can't be with a teacher.First of all I am far away from centers so it is very difficult to find a good piano teacher here. Also I am responsible to do my own job and I must notice that I am playing the piano just as a hobby. As a result of this I can't separate much time for this attractions. So A.I can be enough for me.Is there anyone who can suggest a computer programme? Thanks

Just to clarify your question, alpp, are you looking for a computer program that will automatically choose fingering for your pieces?

Bear in mind that computer programs that can write the score from midi data are pretty bad at doing it from the arbitrary performance data of any significant piece.

Sure, it's relatively easy to display the notes, but that's not a score and it usually works best when the midi was specifically created from a score, rather than from someone playing.

It's a difficult problem. As is adding "correct" fingering, even if you accept a "generic" fingering and ignore physical differences.

Someone has done research though - see the papers section here for SIEDP - I don't know if they have made the software available, you could ask :-

You might find other research with google. I don't think you're going to find many programs though, not compared with the heap of programs you'll find that can play / edit/ display / manipulate midi data, it's a different class of problem.
