I used to play the flute when I was in junior high school.  There were 12 flute players and they were all girls but me.  I was the only boy in the flute section.  There were times when I was embarrassed playing the flute because they were no guys playing this instrument.  So, there were few occasions when I have asked my teacher the ultimate question, "why arn't there guys playing the flute?" His response was "majority of the professional flute players are men."  And he candidly told me to look at whose playing the flutes when I see a orchestral on tv.  Anyways, to make a long story short,  I became the first string in the flute section.   ;D  "Flute players makes best kissers" ;) Not that I'm advising you to kiss your sister.   ::)  To answer your question, frankly, I do believe they make a great combination.  They are both woodwind instruments and very elegant, indeed.   ;D
