I miss the CBC!
on: September 29, 2005, 01:33:53 AM
Due to a "labour disruption" (which means management locked out the workers), we haven't had any proper CBC stuff on the radio for weeks. On the classical channel (Radio Two) they're just playing CDs with no commentary...interrupted frequently to apologize for the lack of regular programming. I listen to the local commercial classical station sometime, but it drives me nuts because their repertoire is mainly stuff I've heard millions of times before...and usually they won't play a whole work, just a movement, with little or no commentary or explanation.

Man, me too... How long has it been now, a month without proper radio?  >:( >:(

It's still better than my other option of hearing Green Day played 10 times daily on rock radio.

The playlist they're running right now goes through a lot of the 'hits' and I'm starting to hear certain pieces over again (eine klein nachtmusik). Then when I do hear something I'm unfamiliar with I can't even know what it is... I miss the jazz too.

and their damned "we regret the inconvenience" that's not even a real apology.

Last I heard some official labour dude was going to yell at them and make things better.

Yer tellin me.  It's been toooo long since I heard Two New Hours - I love new music.

This also means we won't get to hear Lang Lang live in Toronto.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
