Wooo!!! I've got my Vai ticket!!!
on: September 29, 2005, 11:05:54 PM
October 24th, Manchester Apollo, seat C18, three rows from the front and right in the middle of the front stalls!!!! I'm gonna be literally worshipping at the Guitar God's feet!!! Will post pics of the gig as soon as I get back from it. This'll be my first time seeing Steve live in the flesh, and I just cannot wait. Imagine if you were going to a concert, given by, say, Beethoven (before he went deaf), and you got to sit next to him as he played.....that's how I'm feeling right now. PLus.....Billy Sheehan, the greatest rock bassist who ever tread this planet, Tony Macalpine, who's obscenely good at guitar AND piano, Jeremy Colson, a totally different drummer to Virgil Donati, but still damn good, and of course Dave Weiner, who's, well, Ok I suppose. BUT THE MAIN THING IS VAI!!!!! Sorry if I sound like mad fan-boy, but he's my greatest influence, technically, compositionally, the way he plays, the sound he gets, his stage presence; no other guitarist comes close. If anyone else is going, do let me know, we could meet up with the guys from the vai.com forums at Yates' Bar before the show.

I'm jealous.  I've been a big Vai fan for years, though my own style is more influenced by Petrucci.

Vai, MacApline, & Sheehan?  Wow!  That definitely won't suck.

MacAlpine is better than Vai.

Sheehan's a mutant
