Tuning the middle keys sharper?
on: September 30, 2005, 05:56:44 PM
We had a piano tuner out a bit ago and he tuned the middle keys (probably about two octaves) sharper than the rest. In playing it after he finished the tuning job I noticed this and questioned him. He wasn't going to admit it at first but then admitted that he had done so. He explained the the middle keys go out faster and thus should be sharper to adjust for that. Personally I did not like having a noticable difference in pitch in the middle part of the keyboard and would rather that the whole thing was evenly tuned. What do ya'll think of this...is this standard procedure?

No that is not standard procedure >:(. If a tech can't give it to you straight, you need to find another.
