Two Words : "Kombucha Tea"
on: October 03, 2005, 06:14:47 PM
Does anybody drink this stuff ?  I would like to dedicate this thread to this amazing tea  ;D.  I have just recently picked up this drinking habit.. he he.  Let me type to you a little bit about this wonderful tea :

Kombucha Supports :

Digestion
Metabolism
Immune system
Appetite Control
Weight Control
Liver Function
Body Alkalinity
Anti-Aging
Cell Integrity
Healthy Skin and Hair

 :o :o 8)

The Bottle reads :  KOMBUCHA (pronounced kom-BOO-cha) is a handmade Chinese tea that is delicately cultured for 30 days.  During this time, essential nutrients form like : Active Enzymes, Viable Probiotics, Amino Acids, Antioxidants, and Polyphenols.  All of these combine to create an elixir that immediately works with the body to restore balance and vitality.

It is very low in calories and has no fat.  It has protein and lots of vitamin B's.

Probiotic content :
Lactobacillus Bacterium : 1 billion oragnisims (what the ... ?)
S. Boulardil : 1 billion organisms (what the ... ?)

Anyway, as I mentioned I have been drinking this everyday for about a week now, more or less.  I have to say it's kind of potent.  I know that it can even be made at home, it forms some kind of mushroom and so on... does anybody do this ?

If you are still reading this, you must be curious enough about it to at least try it ... he he.  However, It's a bit of an acquired taste ;).  Mine has blackberry juice and passionfruit juice in it as well (which affects the flavour).

I have taken too much quack medicine in my time, but i still might give it a go.

Pianistimo might be interested in the anti aging.

hey, hey, hey now... this is not (quack) medicine.  It's not medicine at all, it is truly just tea.   >:(  But it has these benefits to it  :)

BUT, if you DO try it, fill us in  ;D  You might be interested in the fact that due to the fermentation, it contains a trace of alcohol  :P.

All you had to do was mention alcohol.

I will try it.

but, thalbergmad, i think alcohol is supposed to age you.

thalbergmad, why did you say i would be interested in anti-aging? muffled cries (goes to mirror occasionally to check on wrinkle progress - so far, not too bad).

as far as tea - i tend to like herbal teas over caffeinated.  if this is good, yaa.  i usually go by taste.  thereby eliminating the really healthy ones probably.  green tea is my favorite.

ps not to brag or anything, but after three children, i have no stretch marks.  i attribute it to going out in the sun a lot and using cocoa butter.  there is something in cocoa butter that eliminates stress in the skin.  anway, i'm often told i look younger than my age.  (very sensitive about this as you can see)  i hope that i am never chosen to be on that show 'how do i look' - for a ten year younger makeover because then i would look like my teenage daughter, right?!  ahahhha.  well, not quite, but someday i will get sleep.  (maybe when i'm dead).

I have tried herbal teas before, but they all taste horrible to me.

A Chinese doctor once gave me a tea that was made from tree bach. It was supposed to help reduce my weight and it did coz i threw my guts up.

I is going to the healthfood shop tommorrow to see if i can get some of this "Kombucha"

I will report back with my findings if it dont kill me.

Oh great I'll look for it. I'm very much into tea, seeing that in the place I live (it's an island) temperature drops dramatically during the night, nothing beats a nice cup o tea before hitting the piano. I usually go after the green tea mixtures, some aromatic leaves added to the camelia sinensis for spice, often bought from the Tee Geschwender around the corner, that's likely the best tea shop out there. I also drink calea on specific ocasions, you can read about it here https://www.mazatecgarden.com/information/calea_info.htm.
