I'm a huge Moravec fan. I was fortunate enough to see him live many years ago performing the Ravel G Major piano concerto. So fluid and sensuous! His touch is sublime, and he is very efficient with his movements --- has a wonderful stillness about him. Glad to see a post on him!

I have come to know Moravec's pianism through his recordings--still waiting to hear him live.
His rendition of the Chopin Preludes op. 28 is sublime! You can hear short samples at Amazon.com.
I also have his recording of Beethoven's 4th Concerto, a fine performance. But in the first movement he chooses the less familiar of the two cadenzas written by Beethoven--I personally like the more familiar one. On the same CD there is also his performance of Beethoven's Variations on an Original Theme in C Minor--what technique!

oh yes! glad to hear ur opinions! i love him dearly. havent heard him live yet since im based in the phils. i have his recordings of chopin by the greatest pianists of the 20th century and everything is just great! the polonaise fantasie just blew me off. it's not playing the piano anymore, but it's painting my mind with imaginations thru his recordings. every passage never fails to tell me something that strikes right to the heart. that scherzo in Bb minor brought me some place else i could not but enjoy the feeling of the atmosphere.
i would do anything for a live performance by moravec!
