Hi everyone,

I'm studying Balakirev's piano sonata in b-flat minor. Has anyone recordings, instructions or other information on (performing) this piece?

Greetz,

Sorry, can't help you with the Sonata.

The only Balakirev I've played is the Islamey Oriental Fantasy... but I intend to explore more of his repertoire as I get older (I'm 15, I got time...)

Good luck with it! It must be a monster, knowing his other stuff...

I like the Balakirev sonata a lot, but have not attempted to play it.  Was just looking for my CD, but can't find it (must get them better organized!)  I know though that the pianist is Ronald Smith, a Balakirev proponent.  He does a very fine job with the sonata, and I can recommend his recording.
Interpreting music means exploring the promise of the potential of possibilities.
